Randomized Controlled Trial Comparative Study
Comparisons of different general anesthetic techniques on immune function in patients undergoing flap reconstruction for oral cancer.
Anesthetic-induced immunosuppression is of particular interest in tumor surgery. This study aimed to investigate the influence of the 4 most common general anesthetic techniques on immune function in patients undergoing flap reconstruction for oral cancer. ⋯ These findings suggest that PD as a probably optimal choice can alleviate immunosuppression in patients undergoing flap reconstruction for oral cancer.

The short-term effects of Jin's three needles in conjunction with mirror therapy on brain function in patients with upper limb disability following an ischemic stroke were evaluated using ReHo analysis.
Jin's three needle (JTN) is a commonly utilized treatment for ischemic stroke in China. Mirror therapy (MT) is also gradually transitioning from treating limb discomfort to restoring motor function in the damaged limb. Investigations into the 2 treatments' mechanisms of action are still ongoing. We used functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI) technique in this study to examine the effects of JTN combined with mirror therapy MT on brain function in patients with upper limb dysfunction in ischemic stroke, as well as potential central mechanisms. The goal was to provide a solid evidence-based medical basis to support the continued use of JTN combination MT. ⋯ In patients with upper limb impairment following an ischemic stroke, JTN with MT may improve brain function reconstruction in the relevant areas.

Lifestyle plays a crucial role in shaping an individual's health outcomes, we aim to calculate the prevalence of lifestyle habits among female populations in the College of Medicine, Taibah University including poor dietary habits, lack of physical activity (PA), poor coping with stress, and impaired sleep patterns and to find factors that are correlated to them. A cross-sectional study was conducted among Saudi females at the College of Medicine, Taibah University, from January 1 to June 1, 2023. Data were collected through interviewing them using validated questionnaires assessing 5 different lifestyle domains. ⋯ Varied PA levels (46% meeting recommendations) highlight the need for standardized guidelines and tailored interventions. The high prevalence of unhealthy dietary habits underscores the importance of targeted nutritional interventions. Stress prevalence (40%) emphasizes the need for individualized stress management strategies.

Relationship between Ustekinumab trough concentrations and clinical, biochemical and endoscopic outcomes in Crohn's disease: A multi-center nationwide retrospective study (TARGET STUDY).
Ustekinumab has been shown to be effective in inducing and maintain clinical and endoscopic remission in Crohn disease (CD). We aim to assess whether ustekinumab trough levels are associated with improved outcomes in CD in real-life. We recruited patients with CD who were treated with ustekinumab for at least 6 months from January 2017 to June 2023. ⋯ Ustekinumab serum drug level above 4.5 mcg/mL was associated with 24% increase in the likelihood of having an SES-CD score <3 (OR 1.24, confidence interval [CI] 1.12-1.37, P value < .001), 44% more likely to achieve HBI score <5 (OR 1.44, CI 1.26-1.65, P value < .001), 52% higher likelihood of CRP more than 10 (OR 1.52, CI 1.31-1.77, P < .001), and 42% increased likelihood of FC more than 250 (OR 1.42, CI 1.24-1.62, P < .001). Ustekinumab trough concentrations above 4.5 mcg/mL were associated with clinical, biochemical and endoscopic remission in CD. Prospective data is warranted to confirm these findings.

Maintenance therapy could significantly improve the prognosis of patients with advanced non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) receiving chemotherapy. Anlotinib is effective, tolerable, and convenient in administration as a third-line treatment for NSCLC. This study aimed to evaluate the efficacy and safety of maintenance therapy with anlotinib after platinum-based induction chemotherapy for patients with advanced NSCLC. ⋯ Anlotinib might offer a new option for maintenance treatment in patients with locally advanced or metastatic NSCLC without known sensitive mutations after standard first-line platinum-based chemotherapy.
