Subdural evacuating port system (SEPS)--minimally invasive approach to the management of chronic/subacute subdural hematomas.
The population suffering from chronic/subacute subdural hematomas (SDHs) generally includes elderly patients with co-morbidities; therefore the success of less invasive surgical techniques has been of long standing interest. The optimum treatment option for chronic/subacute SDH has not been well established. We report our retrospective outcomes of SDH drainage through a subdural evacuating port system (SEPS). ⋯ SEPS is an effective, relatively safe and convenient treatment strategy with low invasiveness; among management options of chronic/subacute SDH.

Temporal lobe gangliogliomas associated with chronic epilepsy: long-term surgical outcomes.
To review the clinical features and surgical outcome in patients with temporal lobe gangliogliomas associated with intractable chronic epilepsy. ⋯ Long-term follow-up of patients with temporal lobe gangliogliomas associated with chronic intractable epilepsy demonstrates excellent results in seizure improvement with surgery and increasingly low incidence of complications with improvements in microsurgical techniques.

Demographic, circadian, and climatic factors in non-aneurysmal versus aneursymal subarachnoid hemorrhage.
Although, the relationship of spontaneous subarachnoid hemorrhage (SAH) to climatic or circadian factors has been widely studied, epidemiologic, circardian and climatic factors in non-aneurysmal SAH (naSAH), particularly perimesencephalic SAH (PMH), has not been reported before. ⋯ Statistical differences in gender, smoking status, and history of hypercholesterolemia support a clinical distinction between aSAH and naSAH. Furthermore, circadian patterning of aSAH is not reproduced in naSAH, supporting pathophysiologic differences. Only smoking status provides a robust difference in aSAH and naSAH groups. Our data prompt further investigation into the relationship between aSAH and atmospheric pressure.
