The use of combined inhalation anesthesia in laboratory animal surgery.
General anesthesia was induced successfully in 250 laboratory rats by use of a gas machine, human infant-type mask, and combinations of oxygen, nitrous oxide, helium, carbon dioxide, and ether. Ease and speed of induction and recovery and a relatively wide margin of safety were offered by use of the gas machine.
