Assessment of lung cancer perfusion is impaired by respiratory motion. Imaging times for contrast agent wash-out studies often exceed breath hold capabilities, and respiration triggering reduces temporal resolution. Temporally resolved volume acquisition of entire tumors is required to assess heterogeneity. Therefore, we developed and evaluated an MR measurement technique that exceeds a single breath hold, and provides a variable temporal resolution during acquisition while suspending breath-dependent motion. ⋯ The feasibility of a perfusion study with hybrid breath hold and navigator-triggered time-resolved 3D MRI which combines high initial temporal resolution during breath hold with a long wash-out period under free breathing was demonstrated.

To retrospectively analyze the technical result and long term outcome of central venous arm ports placed by radiologists. ⋯ Implantation of central-venous arm ports by radiologists is safe and minimally invasive. No severe immediate procedural complications occur due to the peripheral implantation site. Long term complication rates are comparable to other studies of radiological or surgical port implantation at different sites.

To epidemiologically evaluate the impact of digital mammography screening on incidence rates and tumor characteristics for breast cancer. ⋯ Epidemiological data shows that the implementation of a population-based screening program led to a relevant increase in the age-specific breast cancer incidence rate. The characteristics of breast cancers detected in the screening program comply with the requirements of the European guidelines and are significantly favorable compared to tumors diagnosed outside the program. These findings indicate that digital mammography screening fulfills the requirements for an early tumor detection tool.
