Meta AnalysisEffectiveness and safety of neuraminidase inhibitors in reducing influenza complications: a meta-analysis of randomized controlled trials.
Several studies suggest that neuraminidase inhibitors (NIs) can reduce the duration of influenza symptoms. However, data regarding their effectiveness in reducing influenza complications are scarce. ⋯ NIs seem to be effective in reducing total influenza-related complications in otherwise healthy and high-risk patients, and have an acceptable safety profile. However, RCTs providing separate data for mild to serious complications and detailed reporting of adverse events and mortality are needed.

An in vitro model of chronic wound biofilms to test wound dressings and assess antimicrobial susceptibilities.
The targeted disruption of biofilms in chronic wounds is an important treatment strategy and the subject of intense research. In the present study, an in vitro model of chronic wound biofilms was developed to assess the efficacy of antimicrobial treatments for use in the wound environment. ⋯ This wound model emphasizes the potential role of the biofilm phenotype in the observed resistance to antibiotic therapies that may occur in chronic wounds in vivo.

Extracellular concentrations of fosfomycin in lung tissue of septic patients.
The present investigation explored the ability of fosfomycin to penetrate lung tissue of septic patients by utilizing the microdialysis technique. ⋯ We conclude that fosfomycin achieves antimicrobially effective concentrations in infected lung tissue.
