The magnitude and scope of Clostridium difficile infection in the United States continue to evolve. ⋯ C. difficile was responsible for almost half a million infections and was associated with approximately 29,000 deaths in 2011. (Funded by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.).

A 31-year-old woman with Marfan's syndrome presented with amblyopia and a history of gradual bilateral vision loss over the previous 3 to 4 months. She had also had mild sensorineural hearing loss within the previous 2 weeks.
