Randomized Controlled Trial Multicenter Study Comparative StudyRandomized, multicenter, phase IIb study of preoperative chemoradiotherapy in T3 mid-distal rectal cancer: raltitrexed + oxaliplatin + radiotherapy versus cisplatin + 5-fluorouracil + radiotherapy.
To prospectively compare the rates of pathologic response, acute toxicity, and sphincter preservation with two different schedules of preoperative chemoradiotherapy in patients with cT3 mid-distal rectal cancer. ⋯ Compared with the PLAFUR regimen, TOMOX-RT achieved a greater incidence of downstaging but was associated with a correspondingly greater rate of acute Grade 3+ toxicity. With longer follow-up, the local control and survival rates might offer additional guidance as to the choice of regimen.

Long-term clinical and functional outcomes after treatment for localized Ewing's tumor of the lower extremity.
Retrospective review describing the 35-year University of Florida experience with Ewing's tumors of the lower extremity. ⋯ Overall survival and CSS were not statistically compromised, but we observed an increased risk of relapse and local failure in patients treated with RT alone, thereby justifying a transition toward primary surgical management in suitable patients. However, despite an adverse risk profile, patients treated with RT alone had similar long-term amputation-free survival and demonstrated comparable functional outcomes. Poor results observed in Ewing's of the femur mandate innovative surgical and RT strategies.

Salvage hypofractionated radiotherapy for biochemically recurrent prostate cancer after radical prostatectomy.
To evaluate whether hypofractionation is well tolerated and to preliminarily assess biochemical control of this regimen in a postprostatectomy, salvage setting. ⋯ The toxicity and early biochemical response rates were consistent with expectations from conventional fractionation. Additional follow-up is required to better document the biochemical control, but these results suggest that hypofractionation is a well-tolerated approach for salvage radiotherapy.

Immunosuppressive total lymphoid irradiation-based reconditioning regimens enable engraftment after graft rejection or graft failure in patients treated with allogeneic hematopoietic stem cell transplantation.
To retrospectively evaluate the efficacy of total lymphoid irradiation (TLI)-based reconditioning regimens in patients with graft failure or graft rejection after allogeneic hematopoietic stem cell transplantation. ⋯ In patients with graft failure or graft rejection after allogeneic hematopoietic stem cell transplantation, TLI-based reconditioning regimens allow sustained engraftment, paralleled by a favorable toxicity profile, potentially leading to long-term survival.
