Recent researches have noted many changes of short-term dynamic modalities in mild cognitive impairment (MCI) patients' brain functional networks. In this study, the dynamic functional brain networks of 82 MCI patients and 85 individuals in the normal control (NC) group were constructed using the sliding window method and Pearson correlation. The window size was determined using single-scale time-dependent (SSTD) method. ⋯ R. This study on DFC states explores changes in the brain functional networks of patients with MCI from the perspective of alterations in the community structures of DFC states. The findings could provide new insights into the pathological changes in the brains of MCI patients.

The cytoskeleton must be remodeled during neurite outgrowth, and Superior Cervical Ganglion 10 (SCG10) plays a critical role in this process by depolymerizing Microtubules (MTs), conferring highly dynamic properties to the MTs. However, the precise mechanism of action of SCG10 in the repair of injured neurons remains largely uncertain. Using transcriptomic identification, we discovered that SCG10 expression was downregulated in neurons after Spinal Cord Injury (SCI). ⋯ More importantly, the application of the ADK inhibitor called 5-Iodotubercidin (5-ITu) was found to significantly enhance the recovery of motor function in mice with SCI. Consequently, our findings suggest that ADK plays a negative regulatory role in the repair of injured neurons. Herein, we propose a molecular interaction model of the SCG10-ADK axis to regulate neuronal recovery.

Short-chain fatty acids (SCFAs) are bioactive lipids that are released into the colon as a metabolite of bacterial fermentation of dietary fibers. Beyond their function in the gastrointestinal tract, SCFAs can also have effects inthe brain, as a part of the gut-brain axis. Recent investigations into potential therapeutic interventions via the manipulation of the gut microbiome-and thus their SCFA metabolites-has been emerging as a new branch of personalized medicine, especially for mental health conditions. ⋯ We found high colocalization of SCFA receptors in both microglia and serotonergic neurons and discovered that SCFA receptor expression in the dorsal raphe is driven by fiber solubility, while SCFA receptor expression in the hippocampus is driven by fiber amount. Higher dietary fiber was associated with decreased tyrosine hydroxylase expression. Thus, our results indicate that the amount and solubility of dietary fiber can change gene expression in the brain's microglia and serotonin neurons, potentially via sensitivity to circulating levels of SCFAs produced in the gut.

Our previous study revealed that acupuncture may exhibit therapeutic effects on Alzheimer's disease (AD) through the activation of metabolism in memory-related brain regions. However, the underlying functional mechanism remains poorly understood and warrants further investigation. In this study, we used resting-state functional magnetic resonance imaging (rsfMRI) to explore the potential effect of electroacupuncture (EA) on the 5xFAD mouse model of AD. ⋯ Additionally, the expression of amyloid-β(Aβ) protein and deposition in the Hip showed a downward trend in the EA group compared to the Model group (p < 0.05). In conclusion, our findings indicate that EA treatment can improve the learning and memory abilities and inhibit the expression of Aβ protein and deposition of 5xFAD mice. This improvement may be attributed to the enhancement of the resting-state functional activity and connectivity within the limbic-neocortical neural circuit, which are crucial for cognition, motor function, as well as spatial learning and memory abilities in AD mice.

Attention, an important index of cognitive function, can be affected amidst colored lights. This work investigated the effects of colored lights on the performance in attention task. Participants (N = 42) performed in one, two, and three letter cancellation task (LCT) during four lighting conditions. ⋯ Colored lights affect attention-related cognitive processing. The attentional correlates of white and red lights are more compared to green, and blue lights. Lighting condition should be an important consideration for cognitive testing, for designing workspaces, educational settings, and other environments where attention plays a crucial role.
