Systematic review and meta-analysis of the diagnostic accuracy of the water swallow test for screening aspiration in stroke patients.
The aim of this study was to determine the diagnostic accuracy of the water swallow test for screening aspirations in stroke patients. ⋯ This systematic review showed that the water swallow test was a useful screening tool for aspiration among stroke patients. The test accuracy was related to the water volume and a 3-oz water swallow test was recommended for aspiration screening in stroke patients.

The aim of this study was to examine factors impacting family presence during resuscitation practices in the acute care setting. ⋯ An increased awareness of the important benefits of family presence and the implementation of clinical protocols are recommended as an important starting point to address current variations and inconsistencies in practice. These measures would ensure future practice is guided by evidence and standards for health consumer safety and welfare rather than personal values and preferences of the individuals 'in charge' of permissions.

A discussion of bibliometrics, altmetrics and social media for the contemporary nursing scholar and academic researcher. ⋯ The rising importance of social media and altmetrics can no longer be ignored, and today's nursing academic now has another facet to consider in their scholarly activities. Despite the changing nature of research dissemination, however, it is still important to recognize the undoubted value of established knowledge dissemination routes (that being the peer-reviewed publication).
