Multicentered randomized controlled trial with quality of life and resource use data collected. ⋯ On the basis of this trial, 12 weekly group classes of specialized yoga are likely to be a cost-effective intervention for treating patients with chronic or recurrent low back pain.

A population-based, prospective cohort study. ⋯ Among workers with LBP, early MRI is not associated with better health outcomes and is associated with increased likelihood of disability and its duration. These associations warrant further testing in a randomized controlled trial. Our findings suggest that adherence to evidence-based guidelines is an important factor in ensuring that workers receive the highest quality care for occupational injuries.

Comparison of sodium concentration ([Na]) and proton T2 relaxation time between normal and degenerated discs in a rabbit model. ⋯ Although both [Na] and T2 changes in discs were associated with the disc-punctured rabbits, greater change in [Na] is observed at 12-week poststab compared with T2 change. Because T2 and [Na] reflect different disc properties, performing both imaging under same condition will be helpful in the evaluation of disc degeneration.

Longitudinal study of lumbar bone mass as predictor of low back pain (LBP). ⋯ For a male population that is not characterized by osteoporosis or old age, lower lumbar BMC and BMD values at the age of 36 years are associated with an increased risk of reporting to have had LBP in the previous 12 months at the age of 42 years.

A cross-sectional and prospective longitudinal study on the anthropometric parameters and growth pattern of girls with adolescent idiopathic scoliosis (AIS). ⋯ The growth patterns of girls with AIS with confirmed curve severities were significantly different from healthy age-matched controls. Girls with severe AIS had delayed menarche with faster skeletal growth rate during the age of 12 to 16 years. Monitoring the rate of change of arm span of girls with AIS could be an important additional clinical parameter in helping predict curve severity in girls with AIS.
