We report on all patients treated for giant thoracic disc herniation in the past 10 years. ⋯ Anterior exposure of the thoracic spine using a mini-open thoracotomy and retropleural approach coupled with a limited bony resection surrounding the giant disc, without corpectomy or instrumentation, represents an effective, safe, and appropriate surgical treatment for the resection of giant thoracic discs.

Evaluation of the psychometric properties of a translated and culturally adapted questionnaire. ⋯ The NDI was successfully translated into Italian and proved to have a good factorial structure and psychometric properties that replicated the results of other versions. Its use is recommended for research purposes.

Multilevel analysis of trunk surface measurements for noninvasive assessment of scoliosis deformities.
Reliability study. ⋯ This novel representation of trunk surface measurements allows for a global assessment of trunk surface deformity. Multilevel trunk measurements provide a broader perspective of the trunk deformity and allow a reliable multilevel monitoring during clinical follow-up of patients with AIS and a reliable assessment of the esthetic outcome after surgery.

A finite element analysis. ⋯ Although bony fusion had been completed, the effects of lumbar arthrodesis on adjacent segments could vary according to the surgical technique used for arthrodesis. Semirigid fixation combined with arthrodesis deserves careful consideration and further detailed study because it may cause less stress on adjacent segments than rigid fixation while maintaining the benefits of the latter procedure.

A retrospective study of magnetic resonance imaging of the lower lumbar spine. ⋯ When lumbar IVDD occurs, the CAVE increases and the endplate tends to flatten. The degree of flattening is related to the severity of the degeneration.
