The morphological features of the lateral atlantoaxial joints (LAJs) in patients with old type II odontoid fractures and atlantoaxial dislocation have not been fully analyzed. Our study found the changes in morphological features of the LAJs in some patients, and revealed the causes and consequences of the changes in morphological features of the LAJs.

A case-control genome-wide association study (GWAS) on spondylosis. ⋯ We demonstrated the use of a massive database of genotypes combined with electronic health record data to identify a novel and significant association spondylosis. We also identified significant genetic correlations with pain, depression, bone mineral density, and osteoarthritis, suggesting shared genetic etiology and molecular pathways with these phenotypes.Level of Evidence: N/A.

The authors developed a mathematical model to the sagittal vertical axis (SVA) change in ankylosing spondylitis whom PSO is planned. The mathematical model was developed using trigonometric equations. No significant difference exists between postop SVA change amount and SVA calculated. The mathematical model is reliable in restoring the global sagittal balance.

The anatomical relationship of the extrapedicular approach with the spinal nerve and its branches was researched in cadavers. Three types of extrapedicular paths were simulated: puncture inside the medial branch (MB), puncture outside the MB, and puncture outside the lateral branch (LB). At L1-L3, puncture outside the LB could avoid damage to these nerves.
