Preclinical study. ⋯ This pilot study demonstrated that DDS can be fabricated to deliver sustained and therapeutic dosages of ETN and GDF5. In addition, ETN+GDF5-DDS may have greater anti-inflammatory and regenerative effects than ETN-DDS alone. Thus, intradiscal injection of controlled release TNF-α inhibitors and growth factors may be a promising treatment to reduce disk inflammation and back pain.

Retrospective. ⋯ Although the incidence of adverse events was high before 2Y, there was a substantial reduction in longer follow-up indicating complications after 2Y are less common. Complications beyond 2Y consisted mostly of mechanical issues.

Proximal Junction Failure in Spine Surgery: Integrating Geometrical and Biomechanical Global Descriptors Improves GAP Score-Based Assessment.
Retrospective observational study. ⋯ BM reflects the quantitative biomechanical effect of external loads and can improve GAP accuracy. Sagittal alignments and mechanical integrated scores could be used to better prognosticate the risk of PJF.

A prospective multicenter study. ⋯ JOA, JOACMEQ, and VAS scores were not significantly different between those with, and without, loss of cervical lordosis. Preoperative small eROM and large OPLL may represent factors associated with loss of cervical lordosis after laminoplasty in patients with OPLL.

Quantifying the Contribution of Lower Limb Compensation to Upright Posture: What Happens if Adult Spinal Deformity Patients Do Not Compensate?
This is a multicenter, prospective cohort study. ⋯ Removal of lower limbs compensation revealed an unsustainable truncal malalignment with two-fold greater SVA.
