Comparative StudyComparative evaluation of F-18 FDOPA, F-18 FDG, and F-18 FLT-PET/CT for metabolic imaging of low grade gliomas.
We undertook this prospective study to compare amino acid metabolism, glucose metabolism, and proliferation in primary and recurrent low grade gliomas using positron emission tomography (PET)/computed tomography with F-18 FDOPA, F-18 FDG, and F-18 FLT. ⋯ F-18 FDOPA scan is superior to both F-18 FLT and F-18 FDG for visualization of primary and recurrent low grade gliomas. F-18-FLT should not be considered for evaluation of recurrent low grade gliomas.

Review Clinical TrialFDG PET-CT in the management of primary breast lymphoma.
Primary breast lymphoma (PBL) is a rare disease and its management differs from other breast cancers. The purpose of this study is to evaluate the role of FDG PET-CT in the management of PBL. We carried out 16 PET-CT scans and reviewed the literature. ⋯ FDG PET-CT has a definitive role in every step of management (diagnosis, staging, treatment response evaluation, and detection of recurrence) in patients with primary breast lymphoma.

The utility of Fluorine-18 fluorodeoxyglucose positron emission tomography/CT in identifying the causal source was assessed in this retrospective study. A total of 68 patients (33 men, 35 women; age range, 23-91 years) with fever of unknown origin (FUO) underwent a positron emission tomography/computed tomography (PET/CT) scan. PET/CT was considered helpful when abnormal results allowed an accurate diagnosis, based on histopathology, microbiologic assays, or clinical and imaging follow-up. ⋯ Overall 56% of the F-18 FDG PET/CT studies contributed in the identification of the source in patients with FUO, and elevated erythrocyte sedimentation rate and C-reactive protein (positive predictive value 93%). When systemic diseases are excluded F18-FDG PET/CT has a high negative predictive value for focal etiologies of FUO (negative predictive value 100%).
