Effect of the Motion Correction Technique on Image Quality at 320-Detector Computed Tomography Coronary Angiography in Patients With Atrial Fibrillation.
Adaptive motion correction (AMC) is a new technique that can suppress blurring of the coronary arteries. We evaluated its effect on the image quality of coronary computed tomography angiography in patients with atrial fibrillation (AF). ⋯ Adaptive motion correction reduced motion artifacts and improved image quality of the right coronary artery in some patients with AF.

A Prototype Hybrid Gypsum-Based 3-Dimensional Printed Training Model for Computed Tomography-Guided Spinal Pain Management.
This article details design methodology of an anatomically realistic and accurate physical 3-dimensional model of the lumbosacral spine from computed tomography data utilizing 3-dimensional printing. This model is unique in that the radiodense bony lumbosacrum is reconstructed using gypsum, which because of its high calcium content allows for the appropriate imaging characteristics mimicking bone. The model allows trainees to become competent in needle placement for image-guided diagnostic and therapeutic procedures.

Comparative StudyDiagnostic Usefulness of Low-Dose Nonenhanced Computed Tomography With Coronal Reformations in Patients With Suspected Acute Appendicitis: A Comparison With Standard-Dose Computed Tomography.
The aims of the study were to evaluate the usefulness of low-dose (LD) nonenhanced CT (NECT) with coronal reformation in diagnosing acute appendicitis and to compare LD NECT with standard-dose (SD) NECT and SD contrast-enhanced CT (CECT). ⋯ Low-dose NECT with coronal reformation showed high diagnostic performance and can be used as the first-line imaging tool in the work-up of patients with suspected acute appendicitis.

Controlled Clinical TrialFeasibility of Dual Flip Angle-Based Fast 3-Dimensional T1 Mapping for Delayed Gadolinium-Enhanced Magnetic Resonance Imaging of Cartilage of the Knee: A Histologically Controlled Study.
The aim of the study was to validate dual-flip angle-based fast 3-dimensional (3D) T1 mapping for delayed gadolinium-enhanced magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) of cartilage (dGEMRIC) by means of histological analyses in the assessment of the cartilage of the knee in a porcine model. ⋯ This study demonstrated the reliability of using dual-flip angle-based fast T1 mapping for dGEMRIC for the biochemical assessment of early cartilage degeneration. This technique is a powerful tool for researchers and clinicians to acquire sufficient resolution data within a reasonable scan time.

Low-Voltage, High-Pitch Computerized Tomography Angiography of the Infrarenal Aorta and Lower Extremity Vessels: Assessment of Radiation Dose, Image Quality With Hybrid Iterative Reconstruction, and Efficacy of Test Injection Using a Monitoring Scan at Knee Level.
Our aim was to assess image quality and radiation dose of low-voltage high-pitch computed tomography angiography of the infrarenal aorta and lower extremities and evaluate the efficacy of test injection technique using a monitoring scan at knee level. ⋯ The 80-kVp high-pitch computed tomography angiography of the lower limbs using sinogram-affirmed iterative reconstruction yields reduction of radiation exposure as well as obtains acceptable image quality if acquisition protocols are used in conjunction with the test injection technique using monitoring scan at knee level to determine the delay time.
