Semantic equivalence in Brazilian Portuguese translation of the Trinity Amputation and Prosthesis Experience Scales-Revised.
The Trinity Amputation and Prosthesis Experience Scales-Revised assesses adjustment to amputation and to using a prosthesis and considers psychosocial adjustment, activity restriction, satisfaction with the prosthesis, and other aspects related to health and physical activities, including residual and phantom limb pain. ⋯ The process of semantic evaluation of the Brazilian version of the Trinity Amputation and Prosthesis Experience Scales-Revised makes available to health professionals and researchers who work with people with amputations initial information on cross-cultural adaptation and degree of comprehension of this scale.

ReviewClinical effects of transparent facial pressure masks: A literature review.
Severe facial hypertrophic scars are known to severely impact emotional well-being. Pressure therapy by means of transparent face masks has been used for almost 40 years, but evidence about the clinical effects remains sparse. ⋯ This literature review provides a summary of the current evidence on the subjectively and objectively measured clinical effects of transparent face masks in the treatment of facial scars, highlighting the need for further research on this topic.

Manual fabrication of a specialized transparent facial pressure mask: A technical note.
The objective of this study was to describe the manual fabrication of a transparent facial pressure mask for treating facial deformities. The mask combines the use of a silicone inner liner and mechanical pressure in the facial region. ⋯ Facemasks are a reputable therapeutic modality to reduce excessive facial scarring. They require excellent fitting to give pleasing results. To provide a better understanding of facemask therapy, this study describes the manual fabrication technique.

A new unilateral abduction orthosis for Ponseti-treated clubfoot: A cohort study to assess compliance.
The Ponseti method for treating congenital talipes equinovarus requires an orthosis to maintain correction after manipulation and casting, typically the 'boots and bar'. Non-compliance with the orthosis increases the risk of recurrent deformity. This study investigates a new orthosis, the abduction dorsiflexion mechanism. ⋯ The abduction dorsiflexion mechanism is currently the subject of considerable interest as clinicians look to increase compliance and reduce the recurrence rate in Ponseti-treated congenital talipes equinovarus. The abduction dorsiflexion mechanism boot is a feasible alternative to the traditional boots and bar, particularly in children with unilateral congenital talipes equinovarus.

Comparative StudySignificance of recumbent curvature in prediction of in-orthosis correction for adolescent idiopathic scoliosis.
Prediction of in-orthosis curvature at pre-orthosis stage is valuable for the treatment planning for adolescent idiopathic scoliosis, while the position of spinal curvature assessment that is effective for this prediction is still unknown. ⋯ Prediction of in-orthosis correction at pre-orthosis stage is valuable for spinal orthosis design. This study suggests assessing the spinal curvature in recumbent position (especially prone position) to predict the initial in-orthosis correction for optimizing the orthosis design.
