MR cholangiopancreatography with T2-weighted prospective acquisition correction turbo spin-echo sequence of the biliary anatomy of potential living liver transplant donors.
The objective of our study was to evaluate the ability of a respiratory navigator-triggered T2-weighted turbo spin-echo (TSE) sequence with a prospective acquisition correction (PACE) technique for MR cholangiopancreatography (MRCP) to depict the biliary anatomy of living donor liver transplantation (LDLT) donors. ⋯ Preoperative MRCP using a respiratory navigator-triggered T2-weighted TSE sequence with a PACE technique accurately depicts the biliary anatomy in LDLT donors and may guide intraoperative management of the biliary tract.

Simultaneous fine-needle aspiration and core biopsy of thyroid nodules and other superficial head and neck masses using sonographic guidance.
The objective of our study was to conceive of and to evaluate a simple system for simultaneous fine-needle aspiration (FNA) and core biopsy of thyroid nodules when FNA alone has failed to yield tissue adequate for diagnosis. ⋯ The use of a modified coaxial guiding needle and biopsy gun is a simple, safe, and effective method for obtaining tissue from thyroid nodules and is applicable to sampling other superficial masses as well.

Effect of artificial ascites on thermal injury to the diaphragm and stomach in radiofrequency ablation of the liver: experimental study with a porcine model.
The purpose of this study was to evaluate the effect of artificial ascites on thermal injury to the diaphragm and stomach in a porcine model of radiofrequency ablation of the liver. ⋯ Artificial ascites may be a simple and useful technique for reducing the frequency and severity of collateral thermal injury to the diaphragm and stomach during radiofrequency ablation of subcapsular hepatic tumors.
