Preliminary Results of Lung Cancer Screening in a Socioeconomically Disadvantaged Population.
The objective of our study was to describe the preliminary results of our clinical low-dose CT (LDCT) lung cancer screening program targeting a minority, socioeconomically disadvantaged, high-risk population different from that studied in the National Lung Screening Trial (NLST). ⋯ Lung cancer screening with LDCT in a minority, socioeconomically disadvantaged, high-risk population is feasible but may yield a different lung cancer profile than screening populations in more privileged communities. More follow-up time is required to determine whether the reduction in lung cancer mortality shown in the NLST applies to this underserved population.

Using the American College of Radiology Dose Index Registry to Evaluate Practice Patterns and Radiation Dose Estimates of Pediatric Body CT.
Imaging registries afford opportunities to study large, heterogeneous populations. The purpose of this study was to examine the American College of Radiology CT Dose Index Registry (DIR) for dose-related demographics and metrics of common pediatric body CT examinations. ⋯ The DIR provides valuable information about practice patterns and dose trends for pediatric CT and may assist in establishing diagnostic reference levels in the pediatric population.

Screening for Lung Cancer: Lexicon for Communicating With Health Care Providers.
The effectiveness of lung cancer screening with low-dose CT (LDCT) has been shown by multiple clinical trials, particularly the National Lung Screening Trial. Accurate communication of LDCT results to health care providers is critical to optimal patient care. ⋯ The Lung CT Screening Reporting and Data System (Lung-RADS), a structured decision-oriented reporting system designed to minimize the rate of false-positive results and developed by the American College of Radiology, is recommended for use with all LDCT examinations.

18F-Fluorocholine PET Whole-Body MRI in the Staging of High-Risk Prostate Cancer.
The purpose of this study was to determine whether integrated 18F-fluorocholine (FCH) PET whole-body MRI (PET/WBMRI) depicts lymph node and distant metastases in patients with high-risk prostate cancer more frequently than does conventional staging. ⋯ In patients with high-risk prostate cancer, FCH PET and FCH PET/WBMRI depict significantly more metastatic lesions than do conventional imaging and WBMRI. Stage determined with PET/WBMRI may correlate with early outcomes.

Accuracy of CT Attenuation Measurement for Differentiating Treated Osteoblastic Metastases From Enostoses.
The objective of our study was to assess whether the maximum and mean CT attenuations are accurate for differentiating between enostoses and treated sclerotic metastases. ⋯ The mean and maximum CT attenuations can differentiate between enostoses and sclerotic metastases; however, the accuracy of both metrics decreases after treatment.
