Comparative Study2D thick-slab MR cholangiopancreatography: does parallel imaging with sensitivity encoding improve image quality and duct visualization?
Our objective was to determine whether the theoretic advantages of parallel imaging are realized when applied to 2D thick-slab single-shot fast spin-echo (SSFSE) MR cholangiopancreatography (MRCP) with respect to image quality and duct conspicuity. ⋯ Although there was improvement in the relative contrast of bile to background tissue, improvement in overall image quality was not observed with parallel imaging. However, application of parallel imaging to thick-slab SSFSE may improve depiction of the smallest-caliber ducts.

How accurately does current fetal imaging identify posterior fossa anomalies?
The first objective of our study was to describe the prevalence and spectrum of posterior fossa anomalies over 5 years in a major fetal care center where the referral diagnosis (by fetal sonography) was investigated by fetal MRI and, if confirmed, by postnatal MRI if possible. The second objective was to assess the accuracy with which fetal MRI predicts postnatal MRI findings in this population. ⋯ Although a valuable adjunct to fetal sonography in cases of suspected posterior fossa anomaly, current fetal MRI, particularly in early gestation, has limitations in accurately predicting postnatal MRI abnormalities. Advancing the accuracy of MRI for the diagnosis of posterior fossa anomalies will require greater understanding of normal brain development and improved tissue resolution of fetal MRI. During the interim, our findings strongly support the need for postnatal MRI follow-up in cases with suspected posterior fossa anomalies by fetal MRI.

Added value of routine chest MDCT after blunt trauma: evaluation of additional findings and impact on patient management.
The objective of our study was to evaluate the added value of a low-threshold routine thoracic MDCT algorithm compared with a selective MDCT algorithm in adult blunt trauma patients. ⋯ Routine MDCT has relatively lower, though still substantial, added diagnostic value compared with selective MDCT of the chest.

Stress-related injuries around the lesser trochanter in long-distance runners.
Imaging abnormalities around the lesser trochanter are occasionally found in long-distance runners, yet little research has been conducted concerning this area of the hip. In addition, the relation between iliopsoas insertional abnormalities at the lesser trochanter and femoral neck stress injuries has not been examined, to our knowledge. We report MRI findings at the lesser trochanter in nine long-distance runners with hip or groin pain and a consistent constellation of the following findings: abnormalities associated with the iliopsoas tendon and its insertion, including marrow edema at the lesser trochanter; periostitis around the lesser trochanter; and bone marrow edema in the femoral neck. One case involved temporal progression to a cortical fracture. ⋯ Long-distance runners with hip or groin pain and abnormal MRI findings involving the insertion of the iliopsoas tendon and marrow edema in the lesser trochanter may be at risk of stress injuries at the femoral neck.

MR cholangiopancreatography with T2-weighted prospective acquisition correction turbo spin-echo sequence of the biliary anatomy of potential living liver transplant donors.
The objective of our study was to evaluate the ability of a respiratory navigator-triggered T2-weighted turbo spin-echo (TSE) sequence with a prospective acquisition correction (PACE) technique for MR cholangiopancreatography (MRCP) to depict the biliary anatomy of living donor liver transplantation (LDLT) donors. ⋯ Preoperative MRCP using a respiratory navigator-triggered T2-weighted TSE sequence with a PACE technique accurately depicts the biliary anatomy in LDLT donors and may guide intraoperative management of the biliary tract.
