Case ReportsSaline-infused bipolar radiofrequency ablation of high-risk spinal and paraspinal neoplasms.
We present three cases of symptomatic high-risk metastases involving the vertebral body treated using infused bipolar radiofrequency ablation either alone or in combination with vertebroplasty. ⋯ In our experience, the bipolar technique can reduce the risk of spinal cord damage in radiofrequency ablation of lesions within 1 cm of neural structures and involving paravertebral soft tissue.

Comparative StudyCT of pleural abnormalities in lymphangioleiomyomatosis and comparison of pleural findings after different types of pleurodesis.
The objective of our article was to describe the spectrum and frequency of pleural abnormalities on CT in patients with lymphangioleiomyomatosis (LAM) and the pleural findings associated with different types of pleurodesis (talc, mechanical, and chemical) performed to treat the complications of pleural disease in these patients. ⋯ Pleural abnormalities are common in patients with LAM as complications of the disease itself and as sequelae of pleurodesis and other pleura manipulations. Pneumothorax and pleural effusion result from the underlying pathophysiology of LAM, whereas areas of high attenuation and masses develop after all types of pleurodesis and other manipulations of the pleura (i.e., thoracentesis, thoracostomy).

Our objective was to reveal the frequency and MDCT appearances of sternal variations and anomalies in subjects without sternal deformities. ⋯ MDCT exhibited various sternal variations and anomalies. Sternal foramen is a frequent minor anomaly and generally associated with sternal sclerotic bands. Early manubriosternal and sternoxiphoidal fusions can be seen in early adulthood without osteodegeneration. Double-ended xiphoid process and single xiphoidal foramen are frequent sternal variations. Awareness of MDCT appearances of sternal variations and anomalies provides a better differential diagnosis with pathologic conditions.
