Vascular Injuries to the Neck After Penetrating Trauma: Diagnostic Performance of 40- and 64-MDCT Angiography.
The purposes of this study were to assess the diagnostic performance of 40- and 64-MDCT angiography with digital subtraction angiography as the reference standard in the detection of arterial injuries in patients at high risk after penetrating neck trauma and to perform a separate analysis of injuries to the external carotid artery. ⋯ CTA can be used for initial evaluation and may help guide management decisions if an external carotid artery injury is detected. Negative findings should not preclude close clinical follow-up, repeat CTA evaluation, or, in the presence of high suspicion of arterial injury due to clinical findings or wound trajectory, evaluation with digital subtraction angiography.

Relationship Between Sonographic Characteristics and Afirma Gene Expression Classifier Results in Thyroid Nodules With Indeterminate Fine-Needle Aspiration Cytopathology.
The purpose of this article is to investigate whether specific clinical and sonographic characteristics are predictive of a benign Afirma test result. ⋯ Smaller nodule size was the only characteristic associated with a benign diagnosis on Afirma testing. Sonographic characteristics are not helpful in cases that had a repeat indeterminate FNA finding before Afirma testing.

Quantitative Radiology Reporting in Oncology: Survey of Oncologists and Radiologists.
Tumor quantification is essential for determining the clinical efficacy and response to established and evolving therapeutic agents in cancer trials. The purpose of this study was to seek the opinions of oncologists and radiologists about quantitative interactive and multimedia reporting. ⋯ Oncologists and radiologists agree that quantitative interactive reporting would be superior to traditional text-only qualitative reporting for assessing tumor burden in cancer trials. A PACS reporting system that enhances and promotes collaboration between radiologists and oncologists improves quantitative reporting of tumors.

Acute Appendicitis: Use of Clinical and CT Findings for Modeling Hospital Resource Utilization.
The purpose of this study was to retrospectively investigate associations between baseline CT findings in suspected acute appendicitis and subsequent hospital resource utilization. ⋯ Admission CT findings serve as independent predictors of hospital resource utilization in suspected acute appendicitis.

Volume-Based Assessment With 18F-FDG PET/CT Improves Outcome Prediction for Patients With Stage IIIA-N2 Non-Small Cell Lung Cancer.
We evaluated the prognostic impact of volume-based assessment by pretreatment (18)F-FDG PET/CT in patients who had clinical stage IIIA-N2 non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) treated with neoadjuvant concurrent chemoradiotherapy (CCRT) followed by surgical resection. ⋯ A higher pretreatment total MTV is associated with worse outcome, independent of yp stage, in patients with stage IIIA-N2 NSCLC treated with neoadjuvant CCRT followed by surgery.
