The existence of tethering tracts in spinal dysraphism, other than congenital dermal sinus (CDS), has been recognized and has been summated into an integrated concept of limited dorsal myeloschisis (LDM). ⋯ This study reports the coexistence of CDS and LDM (or probable LDM) components. These unique cases support the hypothesis that the CDS and LDM are among a spectrum of an anomaly that is caused by failure of complete dysjunction between cutaneous and neural ectoderms. Neurosurgeons should be aware of the possibility of coexisting "CDS" components in cases suggestive of LDM. In such cases, not only untethering but also meticulous removal of the squamous epithelium is critical.

Randomized Controlled Trial Comparative Study
Minimally Invasive Transforaminal Lumbar Interbody Fusion Using Banana-Shaped and Straight Cages: Radiological and Clinical Results from a Prospective Randomized Clinical Trial.
In minimally invasive transforaminal lumbar interbody fusion (MIS-TLIF), cage type and position play important roles in fusion achievement and sagittal alignment correction. However, no prospective randomized comparison of the results using different types of cage has been reported to date. ⋯ Our preliminary outcomes suggest that the subsidence rate may be higher using banana-shaped cages in MIS-TLIF, possibly due to their more medial final position.

There are a myriad of head and neck pathologies that extend from the extracranial to the intracranial compartment, traversing the skull base, and knowledge of the imaging appearance of this pathology is critical to practicing neurosurgeons. This article reviews some of the important inflammatory or acquired head and neck pathology along the skull base, neoplastic skull base lesions, and the intracranial extension of head and neck malignancy. Focus will be on the relevant anatomy, appropriate imaging protocols to evaluate these processes, as well as the differentiating imaging findings on computed tomography and magnetic resonance imaging.

Functional Outcomes and Delayed Cerebral Ischemia Following Nonperimesencephalic Angiogram-Negative Subarachnoid Hemorrhage Similar to Aneurysmal Subarachnoid Hemorrhage.
The angiogram-negative subarachnoid hemorrhage (SAH) literature includes patients with perimesencephalic hemorrhage, which is recognized to have a much better outcome than aneurysmal SAH. ⋯ Although the risk of vasospasm may be lower, patients with NPAN-SAH are equally associated with delayed cerebral ischemia, poor outcome, and death as compared to patients with aneurysmal SAH. Furthers studies may be necessary to further clarify these findings.
