NEWTON-2 Cisternal (Nimodipine Microparticles to Enhance Recovery While Reducing Toxicity After Subarachnoid Hemorrhage): A Phase 2, Multicenter, Randomized, Open-Label Safety Study of Intracisternal EG-1962 in Aneurysmal Subarachnoid Hemorrhage.
A sustained release microparticle formulation of nimodipine (EG-1962) was developed for treatment of patients with aneurysmal subarachnoid hemorrhage (aSAH). ⋯ Angiographic vasospasm and unfavorable clinical outcome still occurred after placement of EG-1962. Internal carotid artery narrowing and occlusion after placement of EG-1962 in the basal cisterns has not been reported.

Long-Term Disease Burden and Survivorship Issues After Surgery and Radiotherapy of Intracranial Meningioma Patients.
Many intracranial meningioma patients have an impaired health-related quality of life (HRQoL) and neurocognitive functioning up to 4 yr after intervention. ⋯ In the long term, a large proportion of meningioma patients have impaired HRQoL, neurocognitive deficits, and high levels of anxiety or depression. Patients treated with 1 resection have the best neurocognitive functioning.

Giant Fusiform and Dolichoectatic Aneurysms of the Basilar Trunk and Vertebrobasilar Junction-Clinicopathological and Surgical Outcome.
Giant fusiform and dolichoectatic aneurysms of the basilar trunk and vertebrobasilar junction (BTVBJ-GFDA) are extremely difficult to treat. ⋯ Surgical intervention achieved greater survival than conservative management in BTVBJ-GFDA. Narrow ideal treatment window of the blood flow within the aneurysm to maintain sufficient but not excess supply should be targeted based on the hemodynamics of both the posterior communicating arteries and perforating vessel collaterals.

Endovascular Thrombectomy for Pediatric Acute Ischemic Stroke: A Multi-Institutional Experience of Technical and Clinical Outcomes.
Endovascular thrombectomy is a promising treatment for acute ischemic stroke in children, but outcome and technical data in pediatric patients with large-vessel occlusions are lacking. ⋯ In this large series of pediatric patients treated with endovascular thrombectomy, successful recanalization was accomplished via a variety of approaches with excellent clinical outcomes; further prospective longitudinal study is needed.

Few studies use large, multi-institutional patient cohorts to examine the role of intraoperative magnetic resonance imaging (iMRI) in the resection of grade II gliomas. ⋯ EOR is a major determinant of OS and PFS for patients with grade II astrocytomas and oligodendrogliomas. Intraoperative MRI may improve EOR and was associated with increased PFS.
