Previous studies have attempted to establish return-to-play (RTP) guidelines in collision sport athletes after cervical spine injury; however, recommendations have been limited by scant high-quality evidence and basic consensus survey methodologies. ⋯ This study provides modified Delphi process consensus statements regarding cervical spine injury management in collision sport athletes from leading experts in spine surgery, sports injuries, and cervical trauma. Future research should aim to elucidate optimal timelines for RTP, as well as focus on prevention of injuries.

Final Results of the Prospective Multicenter Excimer Laser-Assisted High-Flow Bypass Study on the Treatment of Giant Anterior Circulation Aneurysms.
Both conventional bypass utilizing temporary recipient vessel occlusion and the excimer laser-assisted nonocclusive anastomosis (ELANA) bypass technique are possible strategies in the treatment of giant aneurysms. These treatments have only been studied in single institutional retrospective studies. The potential advantage of the ELANA technique is the absence of temporary occlusion of major arteries, decreasing the risk of intraoperative ischemia. ⋯ This study does not prove that the ELANA technique has an advantage over conventional bypass techniques, but it appears to be an acceptable alternative to conventional transplanted high-flow bypass in this very-difficult-to-treat patient group, especially in select patients whom cannot be bypassed using conventional means in which temporary occlusion is considered to be not recommended.

Unplanned hospital readmissions constitute a significant cost burden in healthcare. Identifying factors contributing to readmission risk presents opportunities for actionable change to reduce readmission rates. ⋯ This strategy provides insight into global patterns of feature importance and better understanding of drivers of readmissions following spine surgery.

Classification of Individual Finger Movements Using Intracortical Recordings in Human Motor Cortex.
Intracortical microelectrode arrays have enabled people with tetraplegia to use a brain-computer interface for reaching and grasping. In order to restore dexterous movements, it will be necessary to control individual fingers. ⋯ Classification of intention to move individual fingers was accurately predicted by intracortical recordings from a human participant with the thumb being particularly independent.

Biopsies in patients with a suspected glioma are occasionally nondiagnostic. ⋯ In the present series, IDH1 and pTERT mutations could be detected in a high proportion of nondiagnostic biopsies from glioma patients. Molecular testing may facilitate the interpretation of nondiagnostic biopsies in patients with a suspected glioma.
