In recent operative cases of anterior interosseous nerve palsy (AINP), hourglass-like fascicular constrictions have been reported. We prospectively investigated the ultrasonographic history of these lesions to better understand the role of this lesion in AINP. ⋯ Although the mechanism is still unknown, hourglass-like fascicular constriction lessened with relief of motor weakness both in operatively and conservatively treated patients. Muscle Nerve 55: 508-512, 2017.

This observational, cross-sectional, single-center study aimed to identify instruments capable of measuring disease progression in transthyretin familial amyloid polyneuropathy (TTR-FAP). ⋯ NIS-LL, Norfolk QOL-DN score, composite endpoints of nerve fiber function, and mBMI are valid, reliable measures of TTR-FAP severity. Muscle Nerve 55: 323-332, 2017.

Differential weakness of finger extensor muscles: A clinical pattern of multifocal motor neuropathy.
Several studies have suggested that differential weakness in muscles supplied by the same motor nerve supports the diagnosis of multifocal motor neuropathy (MMN). ⋯ We suggest that differential finger extension weakness is a feature that may be seen in MMN, even in the absence of CB or response to IVIg. Muscle Nerve 55: 433-437, 2017.

Andersen-Tawil syndrome (ATS) is a rare multisystem channelopathy characterized by periodic paralysis, ventricular arrhythmias, and developmental dysmorphology. There are few reports concerning ATS in the Chinese population. We analyzed clinical features and evaluated the long exercise test as a tool for diagnosis of periodic paralysis in ATS. ⋯ Chinese ATS patients shared some common clinical features with reported subjects in other countries. An early amplitude decrement in LET may be useful for diagnosis of ATS. Muscle Nerve 54: 1059-1063, 2016.

Differentiating multifocal motor neuropathy (MMN) from amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) is important, as MMN is a difficult, but treatable disorder. ⋯ Peripheral nerve imaging is a potentially powerful technique to distinguish MMN from ALS. Muscle Nerve, 2016 Muscle Nerve 54: 1133-1135, 2016.
