To investigate minor procedures performed in general practice, to alleviate the burden on the economy, patients and secondary care physicians. ⋯ This study has demonstrated the ability for minor surgery to be safely carried out in primary care. The integration of general practice, general surgery and plastic surgery could provide a higher level of patient care and exchange of skills to help reduce waiting lists and alleviate the burden secondary care.

The prevention of falls among older adults is one of the most important public health issues in today's aging society. There are many factors significantly affecting the risk of falls. ⋯ The role of sarcopenia in fall risk is well established. In this study, we also showed that attention and calculation play important roles in fall risk. Elderly individuals with low scores in attention and calculation domains need a more detailed assessment in terms of fall risk, even if cognitive functions are considered normal according to the MMSE.

Data on lower extremity deep venous thrombosis (DVT) following acute carbon monoxide (CO) poisoning are lacking. This study aimed to identify the incidence rate, timing, locations, risk factors, and nomogram of lower extremity DVT after acute CO poisoning. ⋯ Clinicians should be aware of and concerned with lower extremity DVT after acute CO poisoning, especially in patients with long coma duration and high D-dimer levels.

Repeated intravitreal injections (IVI) have become the therapeutic standard of care for multiple retinal conditions. Reducing discomfort and anxiety around IVIs is important to ensure ongoing patient compliance with therapy. ⋯ Patient stress levels are considerably reduced when their hand is held during IVI. Handholding is a useful intervention throughout the patient journey and not solely at the time of initiation of treatment.

Homeobox B2 (HOXB2) is known to be correlated with the development and prognosis of various cancers. However, its role in colon cancer remains unclear. ⋯ HOXB2 may be a valuable biomarker and potential therapeutic target for the treatment of COAD.
