Keratin 15 (KRT15) is identified as a useful biomarker in several solid tumors, while its clinical role in papillary thyroid cancer (PTC) remains unknown. Herein, this study is intended to explore the correlation of tumor KRT15 with clinical features and survival in PTC patients who received tumor resection. ⋯ Increased tumor KRT15 associates with a lower invasive degree, prolonged DFS, and OS, revealing its prognostic utility in PTC patients undergoing tumor resection.

Hepatitis B (HBV) and Hepatitis C (HCV) are among the most common causes of cirrhosis in the USA, with high mortality and morbidity but comparative outcomes were not well studied. ⋯ Cirrhosis with HBV and coinfection is associated with increased duration of hospital stay and cost when compared to HCV infection. There is a higher risk of mortality in cirrhotic patients with HBV infection compared to HCV; however, no significant difference in mortality for coinfection compared to HCV.

Headache represents a significant proportion of disability globally in general practice, neurology outpatient settings, and emergency departments. There is scant literature regarding the impact of headache on healthcare services in Ireland. ⋯ Primary headache disorders have a large impact on hospital services. Diagnostic uncertainty is common; neuroimaging is relied upon. Appropriate care pathways, education, and resource allocation should be prioritized.

Breast cancer is the leading cancer in women globally. Despite decreasing mortality rates, largely due to early detection and modern treatment, the effectiveness of screening on long-term survival outcomes remains unclear. ⋯ The study underscores the importance of extended follow-up periods in evaluating the outcomes of breast cancer screening programs. While the screening program may not significantly enhance overall survival rates, it has demonstrated a reduction in the mastectomy rate and could potentially extend periods of disease-free survival. These findings contribute to the ongoing discourse about the long-term benefits of breast cancer screening programs.

Brucellosis is a zoonotic infection that can affect almost every organ. A mild elevation of aminotransferase levels is usually observed in liver involvement. However, the development of clinical hepatitis is rare. In this study, we aimed to present the hospitalized cases with brucellosis hepatitis in our clinic in a 13-year period. ⋯ Our study showed that, even in the presence of hepatitis, clinical response and laboratory improvement were high with appropriate treatment. It was observed that the improvement in aminotransferases and total bilirubin values delayed in the cases with blood culture positivity, secondary organ involvement, and alanine aminotransferase/aspartate aminotransferase > 1.
