Randomized Controlled TrialChanges in pressure pain sensitivity in latent myofascial trigger points in the upper trapezius muscle after a cervical spine manipulation in pain-free subjects.
This study analyzed the immediate effects on pressure pain threshold (PPT) in latent myofascial trigger points (MTrPs) in the upper trapezius muscle of a single cervical spine manipulation directed at the C3 through C4 level. ⋯ Our results suggest that a cervical spine manipulation directed at the C3 through C4 segment induced changes in pressure pain sensitivity in latent MTrPs in the upper trapezius muscle. Different therapeutic mechanisms, either segmental or central, may be involved at the same time.

Case ReportsA case of pheochromocytoma presenting as low back pain.
This case report describes and discusses a patient with a pheochromocytoma who presented to a chiropractic office with low back pain. ⋯ Pheochromocytomas are rare catecholamine-producing tumors of the adrenal glands that can mimic musculoskeletal conditions such as low back pain. Chiropractic physicians should be aware of the various clinical presentations and, when pheochromocytoma is suspected, make prompt referral to medical providers for diagnostic evaluation and treatment.

Case ReportsAcute spinal cord compression from an extraosseous vertebral hemangioma with hemorrhagic components: a case report.
This case report presents a patient with acute compression myelopathy caused by acute hemorrhage of a thoracic vertebral hemangioma extending into the epidural space. ⋯ The presence of acute or subacute myelopathic symptoms is usually suggestive for malignancy or metastasis. However, in young patients, vertebral hemangioma, causing acute hemorrhage, should be considered in the differential diagnosis. Decompression surgery should be done in such cases before neurological symptoms become irreversible.
