Randomized Controlled TrialImmediate Effects of Dry Needling and Myofascial Release on Local and Widespread Pressure Pain Threshold in Individuals With Active Upper Trapezius Trigger Points: A Randomized Clinical Trial.
This study sought to compare the immediate effects of a single session of dry needling (DN), myofascial release (MR), and sham DN on pressure pain threshold (PPT) and neck pain intensity in individuals with chronic neck pain. ⋯ A single application of DN or MR generated local and distant hypalgesic responses superior to placebo. Future trials are needed to examine whether these findings occur in long-term follow-ups.

Randomized Controlled TrialDry Needling and Photobiomodulation Decreases Myofascial Pain in Trapezius of Women: Randomized Blind Clinical Trial.
The purpose of this study was to assess whether dry needling (DN) added to photobiomodulation (PBM) has effects on the treatment of active myofascial trigger points in the upper trapezius. ⋯ DN added to PBM presented similar results compared to DNout and DN. In this sample, the effects of the application of DN outside of the trigger point had better effects on pain and disability scores than DN applied directly on the trigger point.

Randomized Controlled TrialEffects of Corrective Exercises on Posture, Pain, and Muscle Activation of Patients With Chronic Neck Pain Exposed to Anterior-Posterior Perturbation.
This study aimed to evaluate the effects of corrective exercises on posture, pain, and muscle activation of patients with chronic neck pain exposed to anterior-posterior perturbation. ⋯ Positive and significant alterations have been observed in the forward head and protracted shoulder posture, the timing of superficial neck muscle activation, neck pain, and disability in female patients with chronic neck pain exposed to anterior-posterior perturbation after performing an 8-week corrective exercise program.

Randomized Controlled TrialClassification-Specific Treatment Improves Pain, Disability, Fear-Avoidance Beliefs, and Erector Spinae Muscle Activity During Walking in Patients With Low Back Pain Exhibiting Lumbar Extension-Rotation Pattern: A Randomized Controlled Trial.
Low back pain (LBP) has commonly been managed via classification-specific interventions in homogeneous groups. However, it is largely unknown whether treatment tailored to specific classifications is more effective than generic treatment. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the effects of classification-specific treatment on the self-reported responses and erector spinae (ES) activity of patients with LBP exhibiting a lumbar extension-rotation (ExtRot) pattern. ⋯ Classification-specific treatment may be effective in patients with LBP exhibiting the lumbar ExtRot pattern, reducing pain intensity, disability, fear-avoidance beliefs, and ES muscle activity during walking.

Randomized Controlled TrialEffects of Kinesio Taping on Post-Needling Induced Pain After Dry Needling of Active Trigger Point in Individuals With Mechanical Neck Pain.
The purpose of this study was to assess the effectiveness of the application of kinesio taping in reducing induced pain after dry needling of active trigger points (TrPs) to the upper trapezius muscle. ⋯ The application of kinesio taping after dry needling of active TrPs in the upper trapezius muscle was not effective for reducing post-needling induced pain in people with mechanical neck pain. Further, the application of kinesio taping as a post-needling intervention did not influence short-term changes in disability.
