The aim of the study was to evaluate the indications and outcomes of fetal echo (FE) and determine which indication has the highest detection rate for congenital heart disease (CHD). ⋯ AFCV is the most important predictor for diagnosis of structural heart defects. 2,5% were referred for FE due to AFCV which led to diagnosis of 30% of all heart defects, all of which were major. We describe the main characteristics of patients that required intensive care due to the influenza (H1N1) outbreak in 2009. ⋯ (1) The incidence of severe influenza A (H1N1) that leads to ICU admission appears to be high in Iceland. (2) Many patients developed acute respiratory distress syndrome in addition to other organ failures, and required additional measures for oxygenation such as prone position, nitric oxide inhalation and ECMO. (3) 28 day mortality was low. (4) This study will aid in future outbreak planning in Iceland. To gather information on patients admitted to an intensive care unit (ICU) after a serious suicide attempt (SA). ⋯ The patient group is young (36 yr), majority are women (61%), repeated attempts are frequent, social circumstances are poor and death rate after discharge from hospital is high (10%) even though the vast majority (80%) receives psychiatric follow up.This raises the question if the offered treatment is effective enough. This case report describes an 82 year old male who sought medical attention for changes in bowel habits. Colonoscopy revealed a tumor located 10 to 15cm from the anus. Biopsy showed signetring cell adenocarcinoma. ⋯ Colorectal metastatic lesions to the skin are rare findings, especially metastasis to the face. Skin examination in patients with suspected or known malignancies is an important part of the clinical examination. Key words: Rectal cancer, metastases, skin.
