Children sustaining burns that require treatment in a burn center have a need for multiprofessional aftercare services over a prolonged time. So far, there is little research into satisfaction with care and support after pediatric burns. The aim was to investigate parents' perception of support after pediatric burn and associations with parent, child and injury characteristics. ⋯ Perceived support did not differ on account of burn severity or sociodemographic status. However, care providers should be more attentive to and supportive of parents signaling poorer general health in their child and cognitive beliefs that the child is at risk for harm when active and parents who themselves show signs of psychological symptoms.

High-frequency intimate partner violence during pregnancy, postnatal depression and suicidal tendencies in Harare, Zimbabwe.
Intimate partner violence (IPV) is a common form of violence experienced by pregnant women and is believed to have adverse mental health effects postnatally. This study investigated the association of postnatal depression (PND) and suicidal ideation with emotional, physical and sexual IPV experienced by women during pregnancy. ⋯ Emotional IPV during pregnancy negatively affects women's mental health in the postnatal period. Clinicians and researchers should include it in their conceptualisation of violence and health. Further research must look at possible indirect relationships between sexual and physical IPV on mental health.

Short-Form Mini Nutritional Assessment as a useful method of predicting the development of postoperative delirium in elderly patients undergoing orthopedic surgery.
Postoperative delirium (POD) is a major cause for concern among elderly patients undergoing surgery, often resulting in poor outcome. It is therefore important to predict and prevent POD. The aim of this study was to evaluate the Mini Nutritional Assessment Short-Form (MNA-SF) as a predictor of POD after orthopedic surgery. ⋯ These results suggest that the MNA-SF is a simple and effective tool that can be used to predict incident delirium in elderly patients after orthopedic surgery.
