Needle visibility is crucial for effective and safe ultrasound-guided interventional procedures. Several studies have investigated needle visibility in 2D ultrasound imaging, but less information is available for 3D ultrasound imaging, a modality that has great potential for image guidance interventions. We performed a prospective study, to quantitatively compare the echogenicity of various commercially available needles in 3D ultrasound images used in clinical practice under freehand needle introduction. ⋯ The contrast-to-noise ratio increased with the increase in angle of insonation. The difference in visibility of different needles is more pronounced at 20° angle. The echogenic properties of inhomogeneous cow liver tissues make the needles visibility worse as compared to a homogenous phantom. The needle visibility becomes worse in 3D real-time data as compared to 3D ultrasound sweeps.

Intra-arterial Thrombolysis for Extremity Frostbite Decreases Digital Amputation Rates and Hospital Length of Stay.
To report outcomes of intra-arterial thrombolysis versus non-thrombolytic management of severe frostbite with respect to digital amputation rates and hospital length of stay (LOS). ⋯ Intra-arterial thrombolysis reduces digital amputation rates and hospital LOS in the setting of severe frostbite.

Case ReportsAortic Aneurysm Rupture After Urokinase Treatment for Acute Limb Ischemia in Two Patients After EVAR.
Endovascular aneurysm repair (EVAR) is first-choice treatment for many patients with abdominal aortic aneurysms. Complications unique to endovascular treatment include endoleak and endotension, which can eventually lead to rupture. We present two cases of late aortic rupture after EVAR, where both patients had recent preceding catheter-directed thrombolysis with urokinase for acute limb ischemia. These cases suggest a relation between thrombolytic therapy and aortic rupture after EVAR, and we should therefore be aware of this possible complication.

The New Double-Layer Micromesh Stent (Roadsaver®): Use in Endovascular Treatment of Supraaortic and Visceral Artery Aneurysms and Pseudoaneurysms.
This study was designed to present our preliminary experience with the Roadsaver® double-layer micromesh (DLM) stent in the endovascular treatment of supra-aortic and visceral aneurysms and to utilize the flow-diverting effect of this new design in the treatment of these aneurysms. ⋯ The new DLM stent appears to be promising for the treatment of supra-aortic and visceral aneurysms.

CT-Guided Drainage of Pericardial Effusion after Open Cardiac Surgery.
This study was designed to evaluate the safety and efficacy of CT-guided drainage of the pericardial effusion in patients after cardiac surgery. ⋯ CT-guided drainage of postoperative pericardial effusion is a minimally invasive technique for the release of the tamponade effect of the effusion and improvement of cardiac output.
