Does preinterventional flat-panel computer tomography pooled blood volume mapping predict final infarct volume after mechanical thrombectomy in acute cerebral artery occlusion?
Decreased cerebral blood volume is known to be a predictor for final infarct volume in acute cerebral artery occlusion. To evaluate the predictability of final infarct volume in patients with acute occlusion of the middle cerebral artery (MCA) or the distal internal carotid artery (ICA) and successful endovascular recanalization, pooled blood volume (PBV) was measured using flat-panel detector computed tomography (FPD CT). ⋯ PBV mapping using FPD CT is a promising tool to predict areas of irrecoverable brain parenchyma in acute thromboembolic stroke. Further validation is necessary before routine use for decision making for interventional thrombectomy.

Safety and efficacy of the Gunther Tulip retrievable vena cava filter: midterm outcomes.
To evaluate of the medium-term integrity, efficacy, and complication rate associated with the Gunther Tulip vena cava filter. ⋯ The Gunther Tulip filter was safe and effective at 2-year follow-up. Complication rates were similar to those reported for permanent inferior vena cava filters.

Review Meta AnalysisSystematic review of infrapopliteal drug-eluting stents: a meta-analysis of randomized controlled trials.
Drug-eluting stents (DES) have been proposed for the treatment of infrapopliteal arterial disease. We performed a systematic review to provide a qualitative analysis and quantitative data synthesis of randomized controlled trials (RCTs) assessing infrapopliteal DES. ⋯ DES for focal infrapopliteal lesions significantly inhibit vascular restenosis and thereby improve primary patency, decrease repeat procedures, improve wound healing, and prolong overall event-free survival.

Does mechanical thrombectomy in acute embolic stroke have long-term side effects on intracranial vessels? An angiographic follow-up study.
Mechanical thrombectomy (mTE) proved to be effective treating acute vessel occlusions with an acceptable rate of procedural complications. Potential long-term side effects of the vessel wall trauma caused by mechanical irritation of the endothelium are unknown up to now. ⋯ De novo stenoses and occlusions occur in a small proportion of patients after mTE. Because all lesions were clinically asymptomatic, this finding does not affect the overall benefit of the treatment. Vasospasm may predict late vessel wall changes.

ReviewMR-guided high-intensity focused ultrasound ablation of breast cancer with a dedicated breast platform.
Optimizing the treatment of breast cancer remains a major topic of interest. In current clinical practice, breast-conserving therapy is the standard of care for patients with localized breast cancer. Technological developments have fueled interest in less invasive breast cancer treatment. ⋯ In this article, a novel and dedicated MR-HIFU breast platform is presented. This system has been designed for safe and effective MR-HIFU ablation of breast cancer. Furthermore, both clinical and technical challenges are discussed, which have to be solved before MR-HIFU ablation of breast cancer can be implemented in routine clinical practice.
