Comparison of the Efficacy of Oral 25% Glucose with Oral 24% Sucrose for Pain Relief during Heel Lance in Preterm Neonates: A Double Blind Randomized Controlled Trial.
To study the analgesic effect of oral 25% glucose as compared with oral 24% sucrose during heel lance in preterm neonates. ⋯ When assessed by PIPP score, 25% glucose and 24% sucrose provided comparable analgesia during heel lance in preterm neonates.

Multiple lytic bone lesions in a child can be a manifestation of various diseases like Langerhans cell histiocytosis, metastatic neuroblastoma, leukemia, hyperparathyroidism, multifocal osteomyelitis and histoplasmosis. Disseminated histoplasmosis caused by Histoplasma capsulatum var. duboisii is well known to present with multiple osteolytic lesions in immunocompromised adults and is mostly restricted to the African subcontinent. ⋯ He responded to amphotericin and is currently on Itraconazole. This case is unique for extensive osteolytic lesions with H. capsulatum var. capsulatum infection in an immunocompetent child.

Blood sampling for a newborn screening test is necessary for all neonates in South Korea. During the heel stick, an appropriate intervention should be implemented to reduce neonatal pain. This study was conducted to identify the effectiveness of kangaroo care (KC), skin contact with the mother, on pain relief during the neonatal heel stick. ⋯ Also, PIPP scores of KC neonates were significantly lower both during and after sampling. The duration of crying for KC neonates was around 10% of the duration of the control group. In conclusion, KC might be an effective intervention in a full-term nursery for neonatal pain management.

Nasal bubble continuous positive airway pressure (bCPAP) is preferred in developing economies for easy applicability and low cost. Because its use in older children is unexplored, we sought to evaluate its utility in hypoxemic clinical pneumonia. ⋯ Nasal bCPAP was safe and effective in children with hypoxemic clinical pneumonia.
