Randomized Controlled TrialAccelerometers and Internet for physical activity promotion in youth? Feasibility and effectiveness of a minimal intervention [ISRCTN93896459].
To evaluate the feasibility and effectiveness of a 3-month minimal physical activity (PA) intervention in adolescents. ⋯ Although the process evaluation suggests that a substantial proportion of the participants did not regularly wear the PAM and did not upload information to the PAM COACH website, our findings suggest promising intervention effects on MPA among girls and sedentary time among boys.

LetterTemporal changes in psychobehavioral responses during the 2009 H1N1 influenza pandemic.
This paper aimed to examine the temporal changes in psychobehavioral responses in relation to reported 2009 H1N1 influenza deaths. ⋯ These temporal trends provide important guidance toward health promotion and prevention initiatives in future outbreaks.

Why should population attributable fractions be periodically recalculated? An example from cardiovascular risk estimation in southern Europe.
To determine the effect of age and study period on coronary heart disease (CHD) risk attributable to cardiovascular risk factors. ⋯ Overall, LDL cholesterol levels had the highest potential for CHD prevention. Periodic PAF recalculation in different age groups may be required to adequately monitor population trends.

Unhealthy lifestyle behaviours have been identified as a problem amongst students. This present study investigated the prevalence and clustering of five lifestyle risk factors within a UK Higher Education (HE) institution during the period of April-May in 2008. ⋯ Students' health lifestyles are of concern. The tendency for specific health lifestyle factors to aggregate in clusters has important implications for health promotion within this environment.

Prevalence of self-reported clinically diagnosed sleep apnea according to obesity status in men and women: National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey, 2005-2006.
To estimate the prevalence of self-reported clinically diagnosed sleep apnea (diagnosed sleep apnea) according to body mass index (BMI, measure of total obesity) and waist circumference (measure of abdominal obesity) in US adults. ⋯ These results from a nationally representative sample suggest that diagnosed sleep apnea is highly prevalent among adults with obesity in the general population, especially among men.
