Three-dimensional (3D) contrast-enhanced magnetization-prepared rapid gradient-echo (MP-RAGE) sequence has been reported useful for evaluation of the intracranial venous structures. The purpose of this study is to assess the patterns of the major anastomotic veins on the lateral surface of the cerebrum using MP-RAGE sequence. ⋯ With MP-RAGE sequence, it is easy to identify the variation of the major anastomotic veins. Such information may be helpful to reduce the risk of damage on these important veins at surgery.

To study the frequency and demographics of lung cancer on CT pulmonary angiography in patients with suspected pulmonary embolism referred from the Emergency Department. ⋯ Previously undiagnosed lung cancer was detected in 0.45% of patients among 1081 patients referred from Emergency Department, one of whom had coexistent pulmonary embolism. All five patients presented at advanced lung cancer stages of IIIB and IV.

Spinal dysraphisms are categorized in open dysraphisms with prominent abnormal nervous tissue above the skinlevel and closed dysraphisms with a skin covered malformation. Especially the occult dysraphisms are marked by suspect skin masses and other dermal anomalies. The purpose of this review is to demonstrate the indications and spectrum of spinal sonography in neonates and infants. ⋯ An inconspicious examination does not need a further imaging, but suspicious results of sonography need an MR imaging dependent of clinical conditions. Neurologically conspicious infants need MR imaging completed by sonography. Great advantages of sonography are the real time examination and the potential to show oscillations of the conus, filum and cauda equina in M-mode-imaging.

The purpose of the study was to evaluate the ability of CT, including expiratory scans with minimum intensity projection in predicting the development of bronchiolitis obliterans syndrome after lung transplantation. ⋯ Expiratory CT scans with minimum intensity projection-reconstruction did not predict the development of bronchiolitis obliterans syndrome in most patients. The findings seriously limit the clinical usefulness of long-term CT monitoring for diagnosing bronchiolitis obliterans syndrome after lung transplantation.

Contrast-enhanced flair imaging in the evaluation of infectious leptomeningeal diseases.
The purpose of our study was to compare contrast-enhanced fluid-attenuated inversion recovery (FLAIR) images with contrast-enhanced T1 weighted images for infectious leptomeningitis. ⋯ Our results suggest that post-contrast FLAIR images have similar sensitivity but a higher specificity compared to contrast-enhanced T1 weighted images for detection of leptomeningeal enhancement. It can be a useful adjunct to post-contrast T1 weighted images in evaluation of infectious leptomeningitis.
