To assess the possible extent of dose reduction for low-dose computed tomography (CT) in the detection of body-packing (ingested drug packets) as an alternative to plain radiographs in an animal model. ⋯ Extensive dose reduction makes low-dose CT a valuable alternative imaging modality for the examination of suspected body-packers and might replace conventional abdominal radiographs as the first-line imaging modality.

The aim of this retrospective study was to evaluate performance of computer-aided detection (CAD) with full-field digital mammography (FFDM) in detection of breast cancers. ⋯ CAD applied to FFDM showed 100% sensitivity in identifying cancers manifesting as microcalcifications only and high sensitivity 86% (71/83) for other mammographic appearances of cancer. Sensitivity is influenced by lesion size. CAD in FFDM is an adjunct helping radiologist in early detection of breast cancers.

Discrimination between invasive pulmonary aspergillosis and pulmonary lymphoma using CT.
The purpose was to assess the characteristic CT features of invasive pulmonary aspergillosis (IPA) and pulmonary lymphoma (PL) and to analyze the potential to distinguish the two entities using CT. ⋯ Those CT features can therefore be considered suggestive for either IPA or PL. However, in most cases the diagnosis cannot be made based on CT findings solely because no single feature gained a high sensitivity and specificity concomitantly. Furthermore, the logistic regression did not show a combination that was significantly better than the best univariate predictor.

To describe in detail the characteristic chest computed tomography (CT) findings of Birt-Hogg-Dubé (BHD) syndrome. ⋯ Multiple, irregular-shaped cysts of various sizes with lower medial lung zone predominance are characteristic CT findings of BHD syndrome. Cysts abutting or including the proximal portions of lower pulmonary arteries or veins may also exist in this syndrome in a high probability.

Contrast-enhanced MRA of the renal and aorto-iliac-femoral arteries: comparison of gadobenate dimeglumine and gadofosveset trisodium.
Dedicated contrast agents are now available for contrast-enhanced magnetic resonance angiography (CE-MRA). This study retrospectively compares the safety and diagnostic performance data from Phase III regulatory trials performed to evaluate gadobenate dimeglumine (MultiHance(®)) and gadofosveset trisodium (Vasovist®)) for renal and peripheral CE-MRA. ⋯ The diagnostic performance of CE-MRA for the detection of significant steno-occlusive disease is similar with gadofosveset and gadobenate dimeglumine although the rate of adverse events appears higher with gadofosveset.
