To compare the diagnostic performance of (18)F-fluordesoxyglucose positron emission tomography/magnetic resonance imaging ((18)F-FDG PET/MRI) with (18)F-FDG PET/computed tomography ((18)F-FDG PET/CT), MRI, and CT in whole-body staging of recurrent breast cancer. ⋯ (18)F-FDG PET/MRI offered the highest diagnostic performance compared with (18)F-FDG PET/CT, MRI and CT. Thus, (18)F-FDG PET/MRI should be regarded as a valuable alternative in whole-body staging of recurrent breast cancer.

Quality-controlled dose-reduction of pelvic X-ray examinations in infants with hip dysplasia.
Digital plain radiography (DR) examinations of the pelvis are frequently performed in infants with hip dysplasia. ⋯ The adequate evaluation of hip dysplasia in children and young adults on pelvic radiographs is possible with reduced radiation dose, by simple using an exposure class of 800 instead of 400.

Readout-segmented echo planar imaging (rs-EPI) significantly reduces susceptibility artifacts in diffusion-weighted imaging (DWI) of the breast compared to single-shot EPI but is limited by longer scan times. To compensate for this, we tested a new simultaneous multi-slice (SMS) acquisition for accelerated rs-EPI. ⋯ SMS rs-EPI yields similar ADC values and SNR compared to conventional rs-EPI at markedly reduced scan time. Thus, SMS excitation increases the clinical applicability of rs-EPI for DWI of the breast.

To reevaluate idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis (IPF) cases which had surgical lung biopsy (SLB) for diagnosis of usual interstitial pneumonia (UIP), and examine the influence of computed tomography (CT) findings and clinical information based on diagnostic certainty. ⋯ In this retrospective series, some cases that had UIP confirmed on SLB for IPF diagnosis were classified into a low-level certainty group by expert chest radiologists and pulmonologists. When a diagnosis of IPF is made, the possibility of CHP, CTD-IP, and idiopathic NSIP must be also considered.

(1) To evaluate the ability of emergency room radiologists to detect acute mesenteric ischemia (AMI) from computed tomography (CT) images in patients with acute abdominal pain. (2) To identify factors affecting radiologists' performance in the CT interpretation and patient outcome. ⋯ AMI is underdiagnosed in the CT of the acute abdomen if there is no clinical suspicion.
