Prostate-specific membrane antigen (PSMA) is increasingly being recognized as a novel target for the PET imaging of prostate cancer (PCa) and Ga-DKFZ-11 (Ga-PSMA) has been suggested as a novel tracer for detection of PCa relapses and metastases. The aim of this study was to evaluate the diagnostic value of PSMA PET/CT in the diagnosis of recurrent PCa with low prostate-specific antigen (PSA) levels. ⋯ PET/CT with Ga-PSMA is a valuable tool for assessing recurrence of PCa with a high sensitivity in patients who have PSA levels between 0.2 and 5 ng/ml. In addition, this study suggests that PSMA PET/CT can be used in patients with very low (<0.2 ng/ml) but increasing PSA levels, which, in many cases, may influence further clinical management.

This study aims to compare the incidence of ventilation/perfusion (V/Q) scans interpreted as indeterminate for the diagnosis of pulmonary embolism (PE) using single-photon emission computed tomography (SPECT) versus planar scintigraphy and to consider the effect of variable interpretation of single subsegmental V/Q mismatch (SSM). ⋯ V/Q SPECT has greater diagnostic certainty of PE, with a 41% reduction in an indeterminate scan compared with planar scintigraphy. This is irrespective of the clinician's interpretation of SSM as negative or intermediate probability. Patients with SSM would not require further computer tomography pulmonary angiogram imaging.

The staging and management of patients with newly diagnosed nonsmall cell lung cancer (NSCLC) in the setting of recently diagnosed other (metachronous or synchronous) primary cancer are challenging. This retrospective cohort study was carried out to test our hypothesis that baseline 2-deoxy-2-[F]fluoro-D-glucose (F-FDG) PET/CT parameters, including whole-body metabolic tumor volume (MTVWB), total lesion glycolysis (TLGWB), and maximum standardized uptake value (SUVmaxWB), are associated with the overall survival (OS) of such patients. ⋯ MTVWB, TLGWB, and SUVmaxWB from baseline F-FDG PET/CT are associated individually with OS of patients with both NSCLC and other primary malignant tumors independent of age, treatment type, tumor histology, and TNM stage.
