Intraocular pressure correlates with optic nerve sheath diameter in patients with normal tension glaucoma.
1. Identify differences in optic nerve sheath diameter (ONSD) as an indirect measure of intracranial pressure (ICP) in glaucoma patients and a healthy population. 2. Identify variables that may correlate with ONSD in primary open-angle glaucoma (POAG) and normal tension glaucoma (NTG) patients. ⋯ Indirect measurements of ICP by ultrasound assessment of the ONSD may provide further insights into the retrolaminar pressure component in glaucoma. The correlation of ONSD with IOP solely in NTG patients suggests that the translaminar pressure gradient may be of particular importance in this type of glaucoma.

Comparative StudyMorphologic and functional association of retinal layers beneath the epiretinal membrane with spectral-domain optical coherence tomography in eyes without photoreceptor abnormality.
To access the differential thickening of retinal layers in the epiretinal membrane (ERM) and to determine their correlation with visual acuity. ⋯ Idiopathic ERM affects the volume of all retinal layers. Inner retina had the most variability of thickness and is strongly associated with visual acuity changes in the case of intact photoreceptor layer.

Case ReportsAdverse events associated with intraocular injections of bevacizumab in eyes with neovascular glaucoma.
Bevacizumab, a humanized monoclonal antibody against vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF), has been reported to cause rapid regression of anterior segment neovascularization in eyes with neovascular glaucoma when administered intraocularly. Several studies have reported the safety profile of intravitreal injections of bevacizumab in patients with various retinal pathologies. We investigated the occurrence of adverse events associated with intraocular bevacizumab injections in patients with neovascular glaucoma. ⋯ Central retinal artery occlusion may be a relatively common complication following intraocular injection of anti-VEGF agents in patients with neovascular glaucoma, particularly when it was associated with ocular ischemic syndrome. Since visual prognosis of central retinal artery occlusions is usually poor, intraocular injection of anti-VEGF agents should be performed with thoughtful consideration of the risks and benefits of the treatment, and with a strict follow-up examination, especially in high-risk patients.

Incidence and severity of ocular and adnexal injuries during the Second Lebanon War among Israeli soldiers and civilians.
To analyze the incidence and severity of ocular and adnexal injuries in the Second Lebanon War among Israeli soldiers and civilians. ⋯ The incidence and severity of ocular and adnexal injuries among military personnel during the Second Lebanon War were consistent with previous reports from American sources of ocular injuries sustained in Iraq and Afghanistan. The rates of ocular injury associated with wartime events sustained by civilians has not been investigated before, and it was relatively low, probably as a result of stringent government-mandated building regulations for passive defense that are discussed.

Adjustment in patients with asystole during strabismus surgery.
To investigate whether patients who developed asystole during strabismus surgery under general anesthesia also develop asystole during adjustment, and whether adjustment can safely be performed under topical anesthesia in these patients. ⋯ Adjustment can safely be performed under topical anesthesia in patients who developed asystole during strabismus surgery under general anesthesia.
