Prognostic value of Hutchinson's sign in acute herpes zoster ophthalmicus.
To determine the prognostic value of nasociliary skin lesions (Hutchinson's sign) for ocular inflammation and corneal sensory denervation in acute herpes zoster ophthalmicus. ⋯ Clinicians should be alert for early skin lesions within the complete nasociliary dermatome, because they are a reliable prognostic sign of sight-threatening ocular complications in acute herpes zoster ophthalmicus.

Sunset glow fundus in Vogt-Koyanagi-Harada disease with or without chronic ocular inflammation.
Sunset glow fundus is considered an important ocular finding for diagnosing and understanding the pathogenesis of Vogt-Koyanagi-Harada (VKH) disease. In this study, we investigated the association between the incidence of chronic ocular inflammation in VKH disease and the appearance of sunset glow fundus. ⋯ There is a significant association between the incidence of chronic ocular inflammation lasting more than 6 months and the appearance of sunset glow fundus. In addition, more severe disease at onset might be associated with chronic ocular inflammation in VKH disease.

Case ReportsOrbital presentations of giant cell arteritis.
giant cell arteritis (GCA) is a systemic vasculitis that may affect the optic nerve and cause blindness (e.g. ischemic optic neuropathy). Orbital inflammatory disease, however, is an uncommon presentation of GCA. ⋯ GCA can have orbital manifestations and clinicians should be aware of this unusual presentation of GCA in cases of presumed orbital inflammatory pseudotumor in the elderly.

Eye injuries are the leading cause of monocular blindness in children. At present, however, only limited follow-up studies exist. ⋯ Salvage of the eye with an attached macula was possible in all eyes. Even in severely injured eyes good visual acuity can be established in about 50% of cases.
