Zinc Therapy for Wilson Disease in Children in French Pediatric Centers.
Zinc therapy is considered a good option in Wilson disease (WD), as a first-line treatment in presymptomatic children and a maintenance therapy after the initial chelator therapy. The aim of the study was to determine the practical use of zinc treatment in French pediatric centers. ⋯ The present study demonstrates poor efficacy of zinc as first-line therapy to control liver disease in half presymptomatic children and a high incidence of related gastrointestinal adverse effects in children with WD.

Comparative StudyDisability in Children and Adolescents With Irritable Bowel Syndrome and/or Fibromyalgia.
To compare disability and emotional health in individuals with irritable bowel syndrome (IBS), fibromyalgia, or both, patients completed the Questionnaire on Pediatric Gastrointestinal Symptoms-Rome III, childhood Functional Disability Inventory (FDI), and the Behavior Assessment System for Children, Second Edition. Patients' (age range 8-18 years, 19 IBS, 12 fibromyalgia, and 12 both) FDI scores showed greater disability than scores from historically healthy patients. ⋯ Disability was correlated with anxiety and depression symptoms. Disability and psychological symptoms are important when evaluating individuals with fibromyalgia and IBS.

Randomized Controlled Trial Multicenter StudySafety of a New Amino Acid Formula in Infants Allergic to Cow's Milk and Intolerant to Hydrolysates.
Amino acid-based formulas (AAFs) are recommended for children with cow's-milk allergy (CMA) failing to respond to extensively hydrolysed formulas (eHFs). We evaluated the effects of a new thickened AAF (TAAF, Novalac), containing a pectin-based thickener, and a reference AAF (RAAF, Neocate) on allergy symptoms and safety, through blood biochemistry analysis and growth. ⋯ The new TAAF was tolerated by all of the infants with CMA and intolerance to eHFs. Anthropometric and clinical data showed that both formulas were safe.

Acute Pancreatitis in the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit.
The aim of this study is to describe the demographics and outcomes of children with a discharge diagnosis of acute pancreatitis (AP) from the pediatric intensive care unit (PICU). ⋯ Unlike in adult series, children with AP rarely die. Patients with secondary AP experience more morbidity and mortality than patients with primary AP.

Propofol-ketamine and propofol-fentanyl combinations for nonanesthetist-administered sedation.
There is a need to compare propofol requirement between propofol-ketamine (PK) and propofol-fentanyl (PF) given as nonanesthetist-administered propofol sedation during pediatric esophagogastroduodenoscopy (EGD). ⋯ Nonanesthetist-administered propofol sedation is feasible in teaching hospitals. Propofol requirement is similar in both PK and PF combination regimens, but the lower frequency of propofol injection pain may favor the use of PK.
