Randomized Controlled Trial Comparative Study Clinical Trial[Comparison between 1.5% lidocaine with adrenaline and 1.5% plain mepivacaine in axillary brachial plexus block].
To evaluate the distribution of sensory blockade, the onset time and the duration of the axillary plexus block obtained after the administration of 40 mL of 1.5% lignocaine with adrenaline or 40 mL of plain 1.5% mepivacaine. ⋯ Following axillary plexus block, 1.5% mepivacaine improves neither the extension nor the duration of sensory blockade achieved by 1.5% lignocaine with adrenaline.

Case Reports[Abnormal catheter mobility in a totally implantable venous access depending on the upright or supine position in an obese patient].
The authors advise on an exceptional complication in a totally implantable venous access and give recommendations on how to avoid this problem. In an obese person, one week after the implantation of a totally implantable venous access, a chest X-ray showed that the catheter was too short. ⋯ The subcutaneous injection port was positioned too low. When the patient was in a supine position, the subcutaneous injection port was in the correct position but when she was in an upright position, the breast descended and pulled down the subcutaneous injection port and the catheter.

Nowadays organ transplantations suffer from a lack of donors. Thus the waiting list of patients is constantly growing. Several ways to increase organ procurement are being evaluated. ⋯ Donor age should not remain anymore a systematic contra indication for kidney or liver donation. Renal function, macroscopic examination and histological findings seem more important for making a decision in taking the graft. Double transplantation, here the second case in France, has been performed for several years in other countries, and has permitted to expand the pool of donors, thus increasing the number of transplanted patients.

[Selective activation of blood pressure monitoring alarms: effect of noise pollution in the intensive care unit].
To evaluate a selective activation of sounding alarms on non-invasive blood pressure (BP) monitoring according to the patient haemodynamic status. ⋯ Selective activation of sounding alarms on BP, according to the patient haemodynamic status, reduced noise pollution and could be one solution to improve monitoring efficiency in intensive care unit.
