Review[Choosing an endotracheal intubation set in paediatric anaesthesia].
The differences between a child's airway and an adult's, dictate differences in anaesthetic management techniques. Techniques and principles to assist in this management are reviewed in this article. Paediatric specificities of airway devices and other materials required for endotracheal intubation are described. In addition, recent development of equipment and current trends in management of paediatric airway are discussed.

Review[Anatomic and physiologic features of upper airways in children].
Anatomy of the upper aerodigestive tract in neonates and young children depends on the craniofacial growth. Skull base forms an horizontal line at birth. This line becomes concave inferiorly during the growth. ⋯ During the first years young children have a predominant nasal breath. Knowledge of the position, the conformation and the axial inferior and anterior obliquity of the larynx does facilitate its visualisation during laryngoscopy or intubation. The narrowness of the nasal cavities in neonates must be analysed in taking care of suprahyoid dyspnea in a neonate.

Management of operating rooms is moving nowadays. Financial constraints as well as new operating practices prompt the hospital manager to optimise the operating room utilisation. ⋯ If the manufacturing management is extensively developed nowadays, the operating room is still running on an intuitive, individual and manual basis. The purpose of this review is to describe the main features of the manufacturing management and to identify those relevant to the management of operating rooms.

[Direct and indirect effects of epoietin alpha in an experimental model of thrombosis and bleeding in the rabbit].
To study direct and indirect effects of EPO on haemostasis. ⋯ EPO did not increase the thrombotic risk in this rabbit model. EPO bolus decreased BT and hepato-splenic bleeding.

The use of epidural analgesia and anaesthesia is controversial in patients with multiple sclerosis (MS) due to the potential neurotoxicity of local anaesthetics. The aim of this study was to evaluate the place and the safety of epidural obstetrical analgesia in these patients. ⋯ The results confirm that epidural analgesia is innocuous in this context. The important points are the precise evaluation of the existing neurological symptoms and the sparing of local anaesthetics thanks to the addition of opioids.
