Comparative Study Clinical Trial[Assessment of quality in day-case hand surgery].
To determine the level of satisfaction in terms of pain relief and comfort among patients receiving different postoperative analgesia protocols after hand surgery under regional anaesthesia in a day care unit. ⋯ For hand surgery on day case, quality of late postoperative analgesia (day 2-day 7) is strongly related to patient's satisfaction on day 7.

Clinical Trial[Blood-patch: immediate effective remedy for headaches secondary to dura mater injury].
The aim of this study was to evaluate if bed rest during 2 h in a supine posture is required to improve the efficacy of the blood-patch procedure. ⋯ In this prospective study, blood-patch was mainly performed after spinal anaesthesia and was associated with a high rate success. This encouraging result suggests that recumbent position maintained for 2h after the blood-patch is performed might not be necessary to obtain full efficacy.

[Adrenal function after induction of cardiac surgery patients with an etomidate bolus: a retrospective study].
A single bolus dose of etomidate decreases cortisol synthesis by inhibiting the 11-beta hydroxylase, a mitochondrial enzyme in the final step of cortisol synthesis. In our institution, all the patients undergoing cardiac surgery receive etomidate at anesthesia induction. The purpose of this study was to assess the incidence of adrenocortical dysfunction after a single dose of etomidate in selected patients undergoing major cardiac surgery and requiring high-dose norepinephrine postoperatively. ⋯ A high incidence of relative adrenal failure was observed in selected cardiac surgery patients with acute postoperative circulatory failure.
