Randomized Controlled Trial[Efficiency of bupivacaine wound subfasciale infiltration in reduction of postoperative pain after inguinal hernia surgery].
The reduction of postoperative pain after surgery of inguinal hernia is an objective of lot of studies. The subfasciale infiltration of the wound may be an efficient technique. ⋯ Wound infiltration is still a simple and efficient technique in postoperative pain reduction. With this technique, hernia surgery may become ambulatory.

The relevant literature since the 1940s has been collected from the Medline database, using the keywords: child, operation, anxiety, distress, postoperative complications, preparation, premedication, parental presence, prevention. Preoperative anxiety, emergence delirium, and postoperative behavior changes are all manifestations of psychological distress in children undergoing surgery. Preoperative anxiety is most prominent during anaesthesia induction. ⋯ It is worthwhile if it is integrated into a family-centered anxiety management program and remains one of several options offered to families. Overall, taking into account the child's psychological needs should be considered an essential part of paediatric anaesthesia. Tools and techniques are available for assessing and managing the perioperative distress experienced by children.

Case Reports[High-risk airway management in pediatric prehospital emergency medicine].
We report the case of high-risk airway management performed in prehospital conditions in a 3-year-old boy suffering from a severe head and maxillofacial trauma. Tracheal intubation was decided because of a comatose status associated with an acute upper airway obstruction resulting in severe hypoxaemia. One minute after a rapid sequence induction, difficult laryngoscopy was encountered. ⋯ In the present case, neither facemask nor laryngeal mask ventilation would have been efficient because of oral cavity jaw and sub-mental pharyngeal open wounds. Since most paediatric emergency medicine physician are not familiar with infraglottic airway techniques, our observation questions the safety of rapid sequence induction in case of severe maxillofacial trauma and reinforces the value of pediatric Eschmann-like stylet. Minimal airway tools equipment for difficult paediatric airway management is discussed.

[Flexible laryngeal mask airway use during surgical burn management with head mobilisation: a feasibility study].
To evaluate the feasibility and reliability of the flexible laryngeal mask airway (LMA flexible) use during scalp skin harvesting for surgical reparation of burn sequella. ⋯ The use of LMA flexible during surgical burn repair procedures, including head mobilisation for the harvesting of scalp skin grafts is feasible.
