Multicenter Study Comparative Study[Perioperative anaesthetic practices in liver transplantation in France: Evolution between 2004 and 2008].
To determine the evolution of French perioperative anaesthetic practices in liver transplantation between 2004 and 2008. ⋯ This French survey has shown a reduction of work force dedicated to a liver transplantation from 2004 to 2008 simultaneously with a trend towards a greater severity of liver recipients. Practices heterogeneity reflect at least in part, unresolved questions about the best perioperative management for liver transplantation and the need for guidelines. Working for standardization of our practices and multicentric trials could allow gaining a better understanding of what should be the good practices in perioperative management of liver transplantation.

Multicenter StudyRegional anaesthesia practice for total knee arthroplasty: French national survey - 2008.
Improved pain management techniques and rehabilitation programs have significantly modified outcome for total knee arthroplasty (TKA). ⋯ This national survey showed practices in accordance with recent guidelines as well as persistent challenges in regional anaesthesia for TKA.

Multicenter Study[Current use of sedation and analgesia: 218 resuscitations in France services practices survey].
To assess the current use of sedation and analgesia in a large sample of French intensive care units (ICUs) and to define structural characteristics of the units that use a written procedure. ⋯ Although more than two-third of the responding ICUs reported the use of sedation-and-pain-scales, frequency of assessment was low, and objective assessment of pain in the non-communicating patients was extremely uncommon. Similarly, the use of written procedure was low. The use of sedation-analgesia written procedure in an ICU seems strongly influenced by a more global involvement of the ICU in the protocolisation of complex care. These findings support the reinforcement of educational programs.

Multicenter Study[Assessment of the usefulness to use a software supervising continuous infusion rates of drugs administered with pumps in ICU and estimation of the frequency of rate of administration errors].
To assess the usefulness and the feasibility to use a software supervising continuous infusion rates of drugs administered with pumps in ICU. ⋯ The risk of infusion-rate-errors of drugs administered continuously with pump in ICU is rare but potentially harmful. A software that controlled the continuous infusion rates could be useful.

Multicenter Study[Practice assessment of central venous lines care in surgical ICU of French university hospitals].
Recommendations on insertion and maintenance of central venous catheters (CVC) in intensive care unit (ICU) patients were updated in 2002. The aim of this study was to estimate their knowledge and/or application by physicians in French university hospital ICUs. ⋯ The high number of answers allows setting of a precise state of CVCs insertion practices in adult surgical ICUs. Recommendations for central venous catheter insertion and maintenance are not still known and\or applied.
