Myocardial velocity gradient as a noninvasively determined index of left ventricular diastolic dysfunction in patients with hypertrophic cardiomyopathy.
We investigated the utility of the peak negative myocardial velocity gradient (MVG) derived from tissue Doppler imaging (TDI) for evaluation of diastolic dysfunction in patients with hypertrophic cardiomyopathy (HCM). ⋯ A reduced peak negative MVG reflects both prolonged relaxation and elevated LVEDP. The peak negative MVG might thus provide a noninvasive index of diastolic function, yielding unique information about auxotonic relaxation in patients with HCM.

Clinical outcome of patients undergoing non-cardiac surgery in the two months following coronary stenting.
We sought to determine the frequency and timing of complications at our institution when surgery was performed within two months of coronary stent placement. ⋯ These data suggest that, whenever possible, non-cardiac surgery should be delayed six weeks after stent placement, by which time stents are generally endothelialized, and a course of antiplatelet therapy to prevent stent thrombosis has been completed.
