We present a case series of patients with multiple sclerosis (MS) and neurogenic lower urinary tract dysfunction treated by sacral neuromodulation (SNM). ⋯ SNM is a good option in the treatment of voiding dysfunction in patients with MS in a medium to long-term follow-up. Urinary retention due to detrusor underactivity is not a good indication for SNM; it should be offered to MS patients with refractory urgency urinary incontinence and MS patients with urinary retention due to detrusor-sphincter dyssynergia (DSD).

Randomized Controlled TrialComparing efficacy of α1D-receptor antagonist naftopidil and α1A/D-receptor antagonist tamsulosin in management of distal ureteral stones.
To compare the efficacy of α(1)D-receptor antagonist Naftopidil and α(1)A/D-receptor antagonist Tamsulosin in management of distal ureteral stones. ⋯ Naftopidil could significantly increase spontaneous passage of distal ureteral stones with low side effects. The stone expulsion rate is similar for the tamsulosin.

Color Doppler ultrasound imaging in varicoceles: is the venous diameter sufficient for predicting clinical and subclinical varicocele?
Investigating the diagnostic value of color Doppler ultrasound for defining the varicocele grade according to WHO criteria. ⋯ Our findings support the hypothesis that clinical varicoceles can be predicted with high accuracy based only on the diameter of testicular veins using cut-point values of >2.45 mm in rest or >2.95 mm during Valsalva maneuver in the supine position.

Effect of parathyroid hormone on hypogonadism induced bone loss of proximal femur of orchiectomized rat.
Management of hypogonadism-induced osteoporosis in elderly men is still a challenge. We investigated the short-term effects of parathyroid hormone (PTH) treatments on strength, micro-architecture, and mineral density of trochanteric region of orchiectomized rat femur. ⋯ Our finding supports the hypothesis that PTH therapy seems to be a rational therapy in patients with hypogonadism induced bone loss and improves the bone strength of trochanteric region of rat femur.

Comparative effectiveness research (CER) has come to remain at the forefront of political and scientific debates of health care. The aim of this article is to describe the attributes of CER and implications to the field of urology. ⋯ Several topics of urologic care have already been identified in the first quartile of CER priorities, and many others need to be added. Following the proposed research, designs for CER should be done while abiding by robust methodology, maintaining transparency, and effectively translating research into clinical practice.
