Double-blind, dose-finding study of four intravenous doses of dexamethasone in the prevention of cisplatin-induced acute emesis. Italian Group for Antiemetic Research.
A 5-hydroxytryptamine 3 (5-HT3) receptor antagonist plus dexamethasone is the most efficacious antiemetic prophylactic treatment for the prevention of cisplatin-induced acute emesis, but the optimal intravenous (i.v.) dose of dexamethasone is unknown. This prompted us to perform a multicenter, randomized, double-blind, dose-finding study that compared four different doses of dexamethasone. ⋯ A 20-mg single i.v. dose of dexamethasone should be considered the most efficacious prophylactic dose for the prevention of cisplatin-induced acute emesis.

Anti-G(D2) antibody treatment of minimal residual stage 4 neuroblastoma diagnosed at more than 1 year of age.
To eradicate minimal residual disease with anti-G(D2) monoclonal antibody 3F8 in stage 4 neuroblastoma (NB) diagnosed at more than 1 year of age. ⋯ Despite high-risk nature of stage 4 NB, long-term remission without autologous (A)BMT can be achieved with 3F8 treatment. Its side effects were short-lived and manageable. The potential benefits of 3F8 in consolidating remission warrant further investigations.
